{"id":119,"date":"2019-12-07T16:56:23","date_gmt":"2019-12-07T16:56:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bartholomaeusturm.de\/?page_id=119"},"modified":"2019-12-16T15:49:30","modified_gmt":"2019-12-16T15:49:30","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bartholomaeusturm.de\/?page_id=119","title":{"rendered":"history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The church tower on Erfurt\u2019s main square \u201cAnger\u201d was part of one of the oldest Erfurt parish churches, the St Bartolomew Church.<br \/>\nIt was at the same time also the church of the Earls of Gleichen. Already in 1182 the church was first mentioned. Construction work of the today still existing tower started in 1412, as you can read above the window on the first floor (see picture below).<br \/>\nThe construction work was finalized in 1468 with putting the spire onto the tower.<br \/>\nThe church was a richly equipped parish church until the middle of the 16th century. After the reformation it became assigned to the Protestant Barf\u00fc\u00dfergemeinde (Barefoot Brothers parish), wich however rarely used it. The nave fell into disrepair more and more and finally had to be closed in 1570.
